Dolly the Sheep: Major Discovery or Minor Distraction?
20 years after her birth, Dolly the Sheep is a scientific and Scottish icon. However, she was only ever a small part of a much bigger research programme and the cloning technique used to produce her has now been overtaken by newer, better technologies.
So should we still be talking about Dolly or should we all follow science’s example and just move on?
Join our University of Edinburgh researchers to debate whether Dolly has a place in the 21st century or if she should be consigned to the history books.
Helen Sang, Personal Chair in Vertebrate Molecular Development; Tilo Kunath, Parkinson’s UK Senior Research Fellow; Miguel Garcia Sancho Sanchez, Chancellors Fellow; all from the University of Edinburgh.
